"It's all about the conversation", I proclaimed in my last post. Then I stopped conversing. I haven't posted on this blog in nearly two months.
That's not to say I haven't been up to anything. I've been pushing on my ideas, while at the same time diverting attention towards sustaining myself while still forgoing the sanity of a "real" job. Things are fairly volatile as a result. Then there's the rest of life, too, and challenges and growth on every front.
No excuses. In the spirit of expanding the conversation, today I welcome a wonderful community of people. Hello, Planet Drupal.
For my regular readers who don't know, Drupal is a powerful content publishing and community management platform. It is open source, as in completely free to use and customize, and is the product of thousands of contributors from around the world. It has a fast growing community of passionate users, developers, and evangelists.
It happens to be that I've been working with and amongst the Drupal community for about two years now. Most all my work these days is based on Drupal. It powers this blog, the Woven site, and is at the core of the products and ideas I'm working on. I've contributed code to the community, offered ideas and suggestions, helped other people, and generally participated.
Still, I've mostly stayed under the radar. Going forward, I hope to engage in more dialogue with the community. Starting with this post, all my Drupal-related posts will be picked up by Drupal Planet, which aggregates and offers up the Drupal-related posts of many in the community, and as a result I'm sure I'll see a flurry of new visitors. It's made possible by things like RSS and feed readers and other technologies we've talked about here which really open up and extend the reach of our conversations.
I have strong web development experience, I've been running a consulting business for some time, and I've been pursuing some big ideas. I believe I have a real understanding of where this realm we work in is going and how it will continue to shape our world. I hope to bring all that to the table as I continue to expand my participation and role in the Drupal community.
Oh, and in line with all this conversation stuff, you can now post comments here without waiting for its approval, and you can also choose to be notified via e-mail of follow-up comments. Courtesy of contributed Drupal modules. Please drop a comment, show some love.
More to come. Stay tuned, dear readers -- now including the Drupal community.
Updated for clarity.
